Why is my car pulling to one side?

Most drivers will know the sensation. You come out of a corner and get back on the straight and narrow, then your car starts veering off to the left or right – anywhere but straight.

So what’s going on here? Well, it could be one of several things. Let’s have a look at some of the possibilities.

Tyre inflation

It is possible that your car tyres are not properly inflated. If one or several are under or over inflated and others aren’t, this can sometimes result in one side of your car having more resistance than the other.

This can cause the mysterious pulling.

Abnormal tyre wear

Have a look at the condition of your tyres. If one or more is unusually worn or damaged, this can cause your car to pull to one side.

Look especially to see if tyres appear to be symmetrical and whether there are any chunks missing from the tread.

If your wheels are out of alignment, this can also cause your vehicle to have issues keeping straight unaided.
