Pirelli Tyre has added to its suite of top-end motorsport activities by confirming that it will be presenting as official tyre supplier to Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Australia for 2013 and 2014.

The announcement of the Italian brand as the control tyre follows a detailed test program that confirmed Pirelli’s superior performance. That performance was easily matched by durability and a level of trackside support that will ensure close, high performance racing.

According to Porsche Cars Australia Motorsport Manager, Jamey Blaikie: “Pirelli provided the best overall package…these benefits will be passed on to our GT3 Cup Challenge competitors, improving the overall series.”

The engagement with the Australian GT3 series adds to Pirelli’s host of motorsport commitments. Those include being the official tyre supplier for Formula 1, ongoing support of both the World Rally Championship and the Pirelli Emerging Rally Stars program as well as being the official tyre of the World Superbike Championship.

Pirelli tyres are also the chosen control tyres for numerous national and international sports car and single make racing categories.

Pirelli Australia Managing Director, Michael Cati, said that “This is another clear demonstration of Pirelli’s focus on providing the performance that enthusiasts demand combined with the durability and support that they need.”

“Motorsport success has always been a major element for our brand. In fact, it is one of our defining characteristics. We certainly look forward to supporting the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge and we are sure that participation in top-level competition supports Pirelli deserved brand positioning as a leader in tyre technology and performance.”

The Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge, in its sixth season for 2013, will retain its six-round format, run on the nation’s leading race tracks from autumn to spring next year.
