A glimpse at the world's most luxurious cars

While most of us are happy with a little runabout parked in the garage to lovingly care for and pick up the kids from school, some like a little more glitz and glamour when they get behind the wheel.
We all know the ones - those cars that look so shiny as they whiz past that you can't help but turn your head and stare!
In honour of those who just can't get enough of luxurious cars, we've compiled of a list of the world's most extravagant (and speedy) vehicles. We'd hate to think how much the car tyres on these are worth!
This super sleek and streamlined Lamborghini truly looks like it has come straight from the scenes of a high-speed car film, and has a top speed of 356 km/h. Utilising a carbon-fibre body and interior, this lightweight vehicle is built for speed and ease of handling. Interestingly, it is believed that this car's Italian makers named it after a famous fighting bull that was known for the death of a matador, or bullfighter, in 1914.
Pagani Zonda Cinque
You'd be lucky to get your hands on one of these Italian masterpieces, for only five were ever released. This car looks like it belongs on the racetrack, and was actually designed to meet racetrack performance standards. The Zonda Cinque would be a truly thrilling drive for its lucky owner, and also boasts its own point of difference - it was the first car with a carbon-titanium frame that was deemed road-legal.
Bugatti Veyron Super Sport
This impressive vehicle is slick, classy - and fast. Able to reach a top speed of 430 km/h, it is not recommended this beast of a car is unleashed at its full potential on the road. However, its makers assure that this model offers fantastic performance on corners and bends and "perfect handling" due to its precise approach to aspects such as shock absorbers, chassis and "all-wheel drive system".
Aston Martin Vanquish
A replacement for James Bond's trusty ride, the Aston Martin DBS, this car is smart in looks and in speed - it can accelerate from 0 km to 99 km/h in just 4.1 seconds. It's classy and elegant without looking over the top, and opts out of some of the sporty extras you might see on another model of car. The makers themselves describe this model as "The best Aston Martin ever". Who wants to take it for a drive?
This sporty model accelerates to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds, and from 0 km to a whopping 300 km/h in just 16.5 seconds. That's right - using this car to its full potential could cause a slightly fluttery stomach!
However, if you need to stop in a pinch, its braking skills are just as good. In fact, the car can reach a standstill in 30.2 metres when applying the brakes at full capacity starting from a speed of 100 km/h. This makes it a car that's not only glamorous to drive, but is also responsive!
Porsche 918 Spyder
A luxury supercar for under a million dollars - bargain! This good-looking car from well-known manufacturer Porsche retails at $845,000 USD, and can accelerate from 0 km/h to 100 km/h in a zippy 2.6 seconds. However, this car aims for performance and fun without the fuel-guzzling.
With hybrid drive, this car is designed for fuel efficiency and style. Less fuel consumption doesn't mean less power or presence, though. This car is a true beauty and is bound to drop jaws as you cruise past.
If these cars seem impressive, you'll understand the hype surrounding what supercars might become in the future. Swedish supercar manufacturer Koenigsegg has recently upped the ante with a glimpse of its yet to be released "One:1" supercar. This speed machine is predicted to be able to reach 400 km/h in a time as fast as 20 seconds from a standstill - a figure up to 25 impressive seconds faster than the famed Bugatti Veyron.
It certainly seems that this car won't be your everyday runaround - perhaps that's why there's said to be only six being made.
